What's the Difference Between AI Saju and Korean Spirit Divination?

The difference is between what can be calculated and what can't. Saju (the myeongni tradition) converts your birth year, month, day, and hour into stem-branch characters against the Ten-Thousand-Year calendar and interprets those characters — a system, which is why AI can automate it. Sinjeom, Korean spirit divination, sits outside that calculation system altogether. A different territory — not a rung above or below.

If AI can do Saju, why can't it do spirit divination?

The confusion is natural — in Korea both have long been lumped together as "going to get your fortune read." Still, the methods differ. What an AI Saju service actually does is Ten-Thousand-Year calendar calculation, precise down to solar-term boundaries, plus a reconstruction of an interpretive system preserved in writing. AI can go exactly as far as calculation and written record extend. Sinjeom doesn't belong to that system of calculation and record, so AI cannot imitate it — and we don't pretend to.

So that's why you don't deal in rituals or talismans?

Yes — not out of politeness, but by structure. Gwiraedang works only within the territory of Ten-Thousand-Year calendar calculation and interpretation; prescriptions and remedies beyond it are things we can't verify, so we don't offer them. If the sales tactic of frightening people into rituals and talismans sits uneasily with you, see the note on being told your Saju is "bad" — that one draws the line against bad-Saju scare tactics, while this note draws the line between territories themselves. A Saju chart isn't a fixed fate — it's reference material. Whether your eight characters can ever change is covered in Can Saju Be Changed?.

Based on deterministic perpetual-calendar calculations and established Saju concepts — a reference for self-reflection, not a fixed fate.
