Beta notice

Gwiraedang is currently a free beta with no payments and no ads. We do not use your personal data for any marketing or advertising purpose, and we do not sell data to third parties. Most importantly: the developer cannot see what you asked your counselor. Conversations are stored only on your device, never on our servers — the only exceptions are feedback you send us directly, and backups from sign-in sync (see below). What we do collect is anonymous usage data (visits, feature use, error counts) to fix bugs and improve the service.

What we collect

Birth chart info — birth date/time, gender, birthplace (optional), and nickname, used to compute your Saju chart. Conversation content — your exchanges with Dodam and the other counselors, used to generate replies. Account info (only if you sign in) — an email address or social-login identifier, used for cross-device sync and authentication. Beta feedback (optional) — text you send us directly, which may include an attached screenshot, device info (browser/user-agent), and — if you rate a reply (helpful/not helpful) — the specific reply you rated. Push subscription info (optional, only if notifications are on) — a push token, encryption keys, last-active time, and delivery history, used only to control check-in messages and frequency limits (twice a week by default, up to three times if you set it yourself, never 9pm–9am); turning notifications off removes you from delivery immediately. These are companionship check-ins, not advertising — if we ever introduce promotional notifications, we will ask separately. Wellbeing check-in responses (optional, only if you choose to participate) — a 1–5 rating and a mood icon, stored without your name or conversation content, used only to see whether the service is actually helping.

What we never collect

Your real name, national ID number, or phone number — a nickname is enough (social login only requests a nickname too). GPS location — birthplace is a place name you type in; we never access device location. Advertising identifiers (ADID/IDFA) — we don't run ads, so we don't need them. We never sell what we collect, use it for advertising, or use it to train our own AI models.

Purpose of use

We use the information we collect only to compute your Saju chart and generate conversation replies with Dodam and the others. We do not use it for any other purpose.

Processing for AI replies (cross-border transfer notice)

When you talk with Dodam, your chart info and conversation are sent to our AI model provider (Google Gemini API) to generate a natural reply. This may involve processing outside Korea, including in the United States. Recipient: Google LLC (Gemini API). Items transferred: chart info, conversation messages. Purpose: generating AI conversation replies. Destination countries: the United States and others. Retention: within the scope needed to generate a reply (retention by Google follows Google's own API data policy). Using the chat feature means you consent to this cross-border transfer. We recommend not typing highly sensitive personal information directly into the chat. Gwiraedang never uses your conversations to train our own models or for marketing. That said, AI replies are generated through an external provider (Google), and under the current free-tier terms that provider may use the data to improve its own services and models — so please avoid entering sensitive personal information directly into the chat.

Subprocessors

To provide the service, we entrust the following processing to these subprocessors, and require them not to violate applicable law: Google LLC (Gemini API) — generating AI conversation replies; processes chart info and conversation messages (processed abroad — see the cross-border section above). Supabase Inc. — storing and authenticating sign-in data, and storing beta feedback and push subscription info; processes account info, synced chart/conversation data, feedback text, and push subscription info (only if you sign in, send feedback, or enable notifications). Vercel Inc. — web hosting, operations, and anonymous usage analytics (visits, feature use, error counts). If you never sign in and never send feedback, your data never leaves your device (except for the AI-reply processing described above).

Retention and deletion

Your chart and conversation history are stored on your device (browser local storage) and kept until you delete them yourself or clear your browser data. You can delete everything instantly, anytime, from Settings → ‘Delete all data.’ Information sent to the Google Gemini API for AI replies is retained and used according to Google's own API data policy (the free tier does not guarantee immediate deletion) — we do not store it on our own separate servers. Push subscription info is kept until you turn notifications off or your subscription expires; turning notifications off removes you from delivery immediately.

Children under 14

Gwiraedang does not collect personal information from children under 14. Users under 14 may not use this service without a parent or guardian's consent.

Entering someone else's information

For compatibility or relationship readings, you may enter the birth date/time of someone other than yourself — a family member or friend. That information is stored only on your device (local storage), is used only once, at the time of the request, to generate an AI reply, and is not stored on our separate servers (except as part of a sign-in sync backup). Please only enter another person's information within the scope of their consent.

Cross-device sync (sign-in)

Using sign-in (optional) may store your chart and conversation history in a secure database for cross-device sync. If you don't sign in, everything stays on your device only. Synced data can also be deleted anytime from Settings. Choosing ‘Delete account’ in Settings permanently deletes your account and synced chart/conversation history — this cannot be undone. Payment records, if any, may be retained for the period required under consumer-protection law, with personal identifiers removed.

Advertising

We do not run ads during the current beta. If that changes, we will update this policy and post an in-app notice in advance.

Your rights

You may access, correct, delete, or request suspension of processing of your information at any time. Because your data lives on your device, you can view, edit, or delete it directly from Settings. When entering a family member's or friend's chart info, please do so with their consent — information you enter for someone else is used only for compatibility/chart calculations and nothing else.

Common misunderstandings — fact check

Q. Can the developer see all my conversations? A. No. Conversations are stored only in your browser (device) — our servers have no conversation archive at all. The only three exceptions: feedback you send us directly, the single reply you rate (helpful/not helpful), and a backup if you turn on sign-in sync. Q. What about the AI company? A. Google Gemini processes your conversation only at the moment a reply is generated (outside Korea, e.g. the US). It isn't kept on our servers, but under the free tier Google may use it to improve its own services — so we recommend not typing sensitive information directly into chat.
